Access: The 5 mm shaft can get into tighter spaces than 12 mm staplers.

Maneuverability: The 5 mm shaft provides flexibility in stapler placement allowing for more direct approaches to the surgical site.

Visualization: The 5 mm jaw takes up less of the visible field in the scope than does larger stapling devices allowing better visualization of the surgical field.
